Requirements
Note: Only Americans can use the Alexa Smart Home Skill with Alarm.com.
You need the following to utilize Alarm.com with Amazon Alexa:
An Alarm.com-powered account.
Alarm.com-powered thermostats and/or lights.
A device with Amazon Alexa and a linked Amazon customer account. These consist of:
Echo
Echo Dot
Echo Show
Tap
FireTV Voice Remote
To connect the Alexa Smart Home Skill to an Alarm.com account:
Open the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device.
Tap the below icon in the lower right corner
Tap Your Smart Home Skills.
Tap Enable Smart Home Skills.
In the search field, enter Alarm.com.
Tap Alarm.com Smart Home.
Tap Enable.
In the Username and Password fields, enter the Alarm.com account credentials.
Tap Allow.
Tap Done to leave the confirmation screen.
Now that you have turned on the skill, you need to discover your thermostats and lights. There are three ways to do this:
When you tap on the confirmation screen, a pop-up window will appear. Tap Discover Devices.
Add devices from the home page.
Ask Alexa. Say "Alexa, discover my devices".
Note: Check to see whether the thermostat or light is on and whether the item is plugged in and shown as OK on the customer website.
After the discovery is complete, the devices will appear in Your Devices.
