Your thermostats can be contacted in one of three ways: by name, by location, or by general device type.
Use the precise device name in the command if you want to communicate by name.
The location must be included in the device name for location-based interactions.
Example: -The living room thermostat is the name of the thermostat. Alexa, ask Alarm.com to switch on the air conditioning in the living room.
Use "thermostat," "therm," "temperature," or "temp" to interact by generic device type.
Example: -Ask Alexa to adjust the temperature to 71 degrees using Alarm.com. If you just have one thermostat, then this won't function.
A selection of the various commands you may give your thermostat are included in the list below.
Example Commands:

How does mode impact my commands?
Heat or Air Conditioning: The temperature will be set, raised, or lowered to the requested setting.
Auto: When the temperature is changed in Auto mode, the high or low setpoints are set. The mode and setpoint cannot be changed in the same instruction.
Example: -It does not function to say "Alexa, ask Alarm.com to Set thermostat auto mode to 85 degrees." The commands "Alexa, ask Alarm.com to Set the low setpoint to 68" and "Alexa, ask Alarm.com to Change the thermostat to Auto mode" do, however, function.
Off - You will be requested to choose the mode you want to switch to, and no adjustment instructions will operate.
